SHORT COURSES / SUMMER SCHOOL

There are many language schools offering special short English courses for international students during the UK summer, sometimes combined with sightseeing, sports or other activities. See: Course/Language.

Many universities and colleges offer daytime "summer schools" in a wide range of subjects during the British summer holidays in July and August. These courses are usually open to international students. Your level of English needs to be high enough to be able to understand the lectures and to take part in discussions. Most courses usually last for between 1 and 4 weeks. For examples of international summer school programmes in the UK, see:

PART-TIME COURSES

If you would like to take additional part-time or evening courses in a subject that interests you, you should find out about these courses as soon as possible. Many courses start in September/October, or in January or April (the start of school terms in the UK): for a popular course you should try to book a place about a month before this. Many evening classes take place in school buildings.
