(3) Schengen Visa

Before you book this trip, make sure you know if you need a Schengen visa to travel to France: http://www.ambafrance-uk.org/Do-you-need-a-schengen-visa-to.html
Because it is a busy time of the year you may need to check this website at 3pm on a Thursday afternoon to try to get an appointment for the following week: https://www.consulfrance-londres.org/rdv/visa/calendrier.php
[note: you will need to enter your passport number when you book an appointment this way, so make sure that you have made a note of this]

If you need a visa you will need to make an appointment at the French embassy
This page explains about making appointments for a Schengen visa:
http://www.ambafrance-uk.org/Appointment-at-the-French.html
I suggest that you can make the hotel reservation, Eurostar reservation and buy the travel insurance after you have successfully obtained an appointment, since these can be bought quickly online using the links I have put together above.
It is also possible to use an agency to get a visa more easily, but you need to pay more for this service. For details see websites such as http://www.visafrance.co.uk

This is the Schengen Visa application form which you need to complete:
http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/fr/IMG/pdf/visagb.pdf
This document explains how to fill in the form (read it carefully):
http://www.ambafrance-uk.org/IMG/doc_Comment_remplir_le_formulaire_EN.doc

In addition you will need to take to your appointment the photos/documents specified on this form:
https://www.consulfrance-londres.org/doc/quest1.pdf
You will need:
- UK visa with at least 3 months before expiry
- passport with at least 6 months before expiry and a blank page
- 2 passport-sized photos (4.5cm high, 3.5cm wide) with a white background
- proof of current occupation (less than 1 month old)
- 3 last pay slips
- original bank statement (less than 1 month old)
- hotel reservation
- travel reservation (ie Eurostar ticket booking)
- travel insurance
- the application fee of €60 (about £52), paid either by card (not American Express or Diner's Club) or in cash.

If anything is wrong with your application you will lose your application fee, so be very careful to check that you have all the necessary documents.

I suggest that you can make the hotel reservation, Eurostar reservation and buy the travel insurance after you have successfully obtained an appointment, since these can be bought quickly online. If you are worried about the possibility of your application being refused, you may want to choose the slightly more expensive type of hotel booking which allows you to cancel and to get a refund.
