2011 CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: Regent Street

The photos below were taken at the 2011 switch-on event for the Regent Street Christmas Lights

The lights celebrated the cinema release of the 3D family comedy animated film Arthur Christmas
Two of the actors providing voices for the film attended (Bill Nighy is Grandsanta, and Ashley Jensen is the elf Bryony):
Bill Nighy (an English actor/comedian whose best-known part was in the film Love Actually):
Ashley Jensen (a Scottish actress best-known for her roles in the television series Ugly Betty and Extras):

Musical entertainment was provided by:
- The West End Gospel Choir:
- The cast of the West End musical Thriller:
- Matt Cardle (winner of The X Factor in 2010):
(he performed Run for your life and Starlight)
- Kelly Clarkson (American pop singer):
(she performed Mr Know It All and My life would suck without you)

2011 CHRISTMAS LIGHTS: Oxford Street

The photos below were taken at the 2011 switch-on event for the Oxford Street Christmas Lights

In 2011 the Oxford Street lights switch-on event was on Tuesday 1 November 2011 at 5pm.
The stage was set up outside Marks & Spencer's Marble Arch store.
The event was hosted by Heart presenter Toby Anstis, wearing a suit provided by Marks & Spencer's.
The crowd sang "Santa Claus is coming to town", to be featured as part of the ITV appeal and show Text Santa:

Stage entertainment was provided by:

- Richard Fleeshman (from the musical Ghost:, who performed the song:
"Unchained melody":

- American sister duo The Pierces (, who performed two songs:
"You'll me mine":

- The girl group The Saturdays (, who performed their new single:
"My Heart Takes Over":

The Saturdays switched on the lights (video:

The event was hosted by

The Deputy Mayor of Westminster and the
Store Manager of Marks & Spencer's gave short speeches
