2008 Christmas Lights

The following are the dates of the switch-on ceremonies for the Christmas Lights in London in 2008. The lights are lit after dark each day until 6th January (Twelfth Night).

- Regent Street: Thu 6 November 2008
The London Community Gospel Choir performed on stage at about 6pm, and the lights were switched on by band McFly at about 6:50pm.

- Oxford Street: Wed 12 November 2008
The cast of Mamma Mia and some of the X Factor Finalists performed before the lights were switched on by the Sugababes.

- Carnaby Street: from Thu 13 November 2008
13 oversized inflatable snowmen have been suspended above the 12 streets of Carnaby and set among thousands of sparkling snowflakes. In the Newburgh Quarter there are traditional Christmas trees with pretty pea lights, whilst Kingly Court has been transformed with shimmering light installations

- Marylebone High Street: Wed 19 November 2008
The TV sports presenter Gabby Logan switched on the lights on the main stage on Marylebone High Street at 6pm. Other events between 4-6:30pm included carol singing, a Santa's grotto, and a performance on stage by the choir Hear Me Now (featured on the BBC series Last Choir Standing).

- Bond Street: Thu 20 November 2008
The lights were switched on at 6pm by Kelly Brook, from a stage set up on the corner of Burlington Gardens and Old Bond Street. There was seasonal entertainment along the street from 5pm-8pm.

- Trafalgar Square: Thu 4 December 2008
The Mayor of Oslo turned on the lights of the Norwegian Christmas Tree. The Lord Mayor of Westminster and the Mayor of London also attended, choirs from St Martin-in-the-Fields and from Norway sang carols, and a Salvation Army band played.
